We depend on volunteers
to help with many aspects of running
St. Leo Food Pantry.

Driver/Pick-up:  Pick up groceries/product at area food stores

Requires driving as well as heavy lifting, loading and unloading.

2 volunteers needed on Mondays

3 or more volunteers needed on Wednesdays

2 volunteers needed on Fridays

Mondays:  Pick up at Kroger and Whole Foods, unload at Pantry.

Wednesdays, 8:00 am – 12:00 Noon:  Drive St. Leo’s cargo van to Foodbank, load van; drive to Whole Foods, load van; drive to Fresh Thyme, load van; return to Pantry and unload.

Fridays:  Pick up at Kroger, Whole Foods and Fresh Thyme and unload at Pantry.

Cleaning Crew:

               2 volunteers needed, Monday or Friday mornings between 9:00 am and Noon each week.

Sweep, vacuum and mop floors

Clean refrigeration equipment as needed.

 

Check-in Coordinator:

1 volunteer needed each serving day, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Noon –  4:30 pm

Multiple responsibilities include:

Assist with set-up before doors open at 1:00 pm

Unlock front doors.

Verify guests live within our serving area.

Begin documentation process

Direct flow of clients to waiting area, intake station and shopping area.    

Direct restroom requests, accept and document walk-in donations.

Complete end-of-day paperwork.

Assist with restocking and clean-up after doors close at 4:00 pm.

Intake Station/input information in computerized tracking software:

3 volunteers needed for first 30 minutes; 2 or 1 thereafter each serving day.

Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays, Noon – 4:30 pm

When finished with intake duties, volunteers can then escort shoppers.

Assist with set-up before doors open at 1:00 pm

Verify guests live within serving area.

Verify guests have all necessary documentation.

Search client in “pantry-track” software.

Verify and confirm all information is correct or updated.

Ask client for E-signature

Prepare “Shopper Slip” and direct shopper to check-in coordinator.

Assist with restocking and clean-up after doors close at 4:00 pm.

Shopper Escort:

6 – 8 volunteers needed each serving day, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Noon – 4:30 pm
 

Assist with set-up before doors open at 1:00 pm/prepare carts for use.
 

Guide and assists clients through the shopping area.
 

Escort client to car and help unload or request a Cart Return Volunteer to assist.
 

Return cart to shoppers’ area and prepare for next use.
 

Document needed/missing items on the Shelf Restocking Inventory List.

Assist with restocking and clean-up after doors close at 4:00 pm.

Produce Assistant:

1 volunteer needed each serving day, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Noon – 4:30 pm.

Assist with set-up before doors open at 1:00 pm.

Along with shopping escort, assist guests navigate what’s on hand.

Determine what they would like to have based on family size.

Assist with restocking and clean-up after doors close at 4:00 pm.

Meat/Refrigeration Assistant:

1 volunteer needed each serving day, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Noon – 4:30 pm.

Assist with set-up before doors open at 1:00 pm.

Along with shopping escort, assist guests navigate what’s on hand.

Determine what they would like to have based on family size.

Assist with restocking and clean-up after doors close at 4:00 pm.

Cart Return:

1 – 2 volunteers needed each serving day, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Noon – 4:30 pm
 

Assist with set-up before doors open at 1:00 pm/prepare carts for use.
 

Escort clients to car, help unload.
 

Return shopping cart to shoppers’ area and prepare for next use.

Assist with restocking and clean-up after doors close at 4:00 pm.
