Because of You

St. Leo’s struggle and its gift is its poverty. In order to continue and expand its mission and ministry to the community and our immigrant and refugee parishioners we need to reach out to others to help us through prayer, finances, and service. Through God’s grace it becomes mutual blessing. And so we thank….

Many, many thanks to Judie Kuhlman and the St. Susanna high school youth group and adult volunteers for joining our confirmation candidates for a retreat and service day March 18. Focus of the day was living in community as the Body of Christ. Though we come from different places and have different life experiences and roles, we are all one in Christ. The day included prayer, talks, small group discussion, service (rearranging the food pantry) food and fun. There are plans to come together again and to continue building relationships. As a sign of this commitment participants made and decorated outlines of their right and left hands which were put on two posters - right hands on one, left hands on the other. One poster remains at St. Leo's; the other hands at St. Susanna as a reminder that we need each other to be whole.

Many, many thanks to the students from Xavier University who spent a morning restocking shelves at the food pantry as a part of Xavier's Service Day. Not only did they make sure all items on the shelves were in the proper place, but also moved items from the storage room to fill the shelves.

Many, many thanks to the students from the University of Akron who spent a day of their spring break cleaning the church and rectory just in time for the Easter season. With buckets and rags in hand, they wiped down every one of the pews and all of the woodwork in the church and then they cleaned the woodwork in the rectory as well!

Many, many thanks to the donors who have contributed to our Stained Glass Window Fund. St. Leo's operating budget is extremely tight and there simply is NO money on hand to repair and restore the windows. To date we have received $8,725 toward the $25,000 expected cost of the entire project.

Every single gift

Cash to Cover Operating Expenses is Essential in order to continue to provide the many spiritual and corporal works of mercy that St. Leo’s provides for the residents of the struggling neighborhood of North Fairmount, we must be able to turn on the lights and electronic equipment, plug in the freezers and refrigerators in the food pantry, heat the buildings, answer the phone, access running water, repair and maintain our physical plant and compensate our small, dedicated and determined staff.  Without these we simply cannot answer Jesus’ call to love our neighbors as ourselves.

St. Leo's Stained Glass Window Fund

St. Leo’s stained glass windows are in serious need of repair and restoration.

All of the windows are nearly 100 years old and are showing signs of lead fatigue, bowing, and putty deterioration. The area of most concern is in the ventilation section of the windows where the glass edges are showing extreme bowing and  breakage.

The first three windows that were in greatest need of repair have been restored and re-installed just in time for Easter!

To date we have received $12,225.00, toward the  total $25,000 expected cost of the entire project.

We ask you to consider making a donation to help build our Stained Glass Window Fund. Your gift of beauty will enhance our worship experience for many years to come.

Our Heartfelt Thanks

Many, many thanks to you our many dedicated benefactors, boosters, advocates, volunteers, and parish and school partners. It is your most generous financial support, bountiful responses to our wish list, abundant gift-in-kind donations of materials and services, and countless dedicated volunteer hours that allows St. Leo the Great Parish to exist.

It is you who allow us to build the Kingdom of God by making it possible to turn on the lights and electronic equipment, plug in the freezers and refrigerators in the food pantry, heat the buildings, answer the phones, access running water, repair and maintain our physical plant and compensate our small, dedicated and determined staff.  Without these we simply cannot answer Jesus’ call to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Hope + Help = Happens!

We are so hopeful for the ministries going on at St. Leo! The demands and needs of our parishioners and community are so great for the growth and sharing of the greater good of all. The thousands of lives we touch in just a month’s time is overwhelming.

We could never do it on our own and hope all of you out there who volunteer, encourage, support, pray, and/ or help sustain St. Leo know it is so very treasured and cherished. With hope and your help, it makes it all happen! It takes a village, as they say!

With gratefulness and gratitude, thank you for being our hope and part of our St. Leo Village!
