St. Leo's Feast Day

November 10 marks the Feast Day of our patron saint. Pope Leo I was head of the Catholic Church from 440-461 and is known as one of the best administrative popes of the ancient church. As a peacemaker, stories of how he discouraged Attila the Hun from invading Rome and other conflicts abound.

Truth, unity, and his love and concern for individuals—the wealthy as well as the poor and neglected—was well known. His determined yet humble nature provided the means to see his pastoral endeavors through. Writings refer to him as a good shepherd and pastor to all people. His teachings were full of practical advice in loving God and each other.

In our own endeavors, may we, like Leo, also be leaders, peacemakers, and extend truth, love and concern to one another.

To the right is the painting of St. Leo the Great located just above the sanctuary in church.
