In August, our Food Pantry served 1,370 individuals, including 735 children in 347 families.  Busy As Can Bee!

Not only were we the site selected for Archbishop Schnurr to bless letters going to congress, but many organizations and parishes have chosen St. Leo as recipient for Pope Francis’s request to support Caritas’ Food For All world-wide campaign to combat hunger, particularly during the Week of Action this month. Thank you to all the new and all the long-standing organizations, groups, and individuals who have remembered St. Leo as they conduct their “Pope Food Fund Drives.”

Q. How long does the food last for a family?

AWe try to make sure our clients receive food to last at least one to two weeks.

NEEDS FOR October:  Peanut Butter (of course, of course, said the horse, of course!) soups, canned meats, canned potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, baked beans, tuna, bar soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent, diapers (3,4,5), quart-sized ZipLoc bags, and plastic and paper grocery bags.

Monetary donations are needed for additional food and hygiene purchases, and operational expenses to keep the pantry functioning, including such items as: freezers, refrigerators, pest control, van use, repairs & gasoline for multiple trips for food pick-up, and Pantry related errands.

Monetary donations are NEVER used for the general parish operating expenses, staff, or pantry management expenses.
